The latest craze is retro 80’s music. It is also a popular party theme. The beauty of it is that most of us still have some of the clothing in the back of the closet or, at least a good memory of the style. I notice that many of the 80’s style clothing is coming back into "Vogue".
Of course, You can always find an old Vintage clothes store to raid. Do not forget the "glow in the dark" toys and rings.
You must give the guests time to plan their outfits and find some old memorabilia to contribute.
If possible, have guests give pictures before hand which can be displayed across a wall on the night of the party. Time can easily be spent recalling stories from the time when all we had to do was “Relax” as told to us by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. As for the food; it should be exotic, as we thought of it back then with Nachos and Melted Cheese, Sushi, Pizza and Cheesecake of course. Sangria with and without alcohol is a great refreshment.
Remember to have an area cleared for dancing and keep any important items or furniture safe from damage. Keep carpet cleaner on hand to avoid stains. All smoking should be done outside to avoid burn holes.
Have an activity
Putting hair gel in the bathroom, and a poster of Madonna in the living room should help put the spirit in the air. I will say that the more daring people I have met have had a professional hair dresser on the premises to perform specialty hair-doos. Now, do not be surprised but this is very successful for people that like to live dangerously and, it is great for a laugh. Make sure the guests are open to something like that.
Remember not to allow anyone to drive home drunk. You may want to have a sleeping area available in case someone needs to spend the night.
